Hi to all!
I was going to write tonight and then I was not and now here I am, as I am waiting for the dryer to finish the last load of washing for today. Oh, what fun it is to have all of the household duties as well, especially when not use to it. Today I have been doing the grass and things like that, which I have always done, as well as the washing, etc. that Marty always did. What a change!!!!!! God continues to have a big job keeping me in line! Praise the Lord!
This week-end has kind of been a downer, why I am not exactly sure, but it may have had something to do with the fact that I had laser surgery on my right eye Friday afternoon. The other eye is to be done Nov. 15th and hopefully I will not have to put drops in my eyes any more, or at least for the next five years. I have had glaucoma (sp ?) for some time and treated them with drops. When I saw the doctor last Wednesday he suggested doing this laser surgery and I said let's go for it right now. So we did! Praise the Lord for these new treatments.
Today I got an email that really made my day. One of the nurses on the 6th floor at St. V's had been waiting all summer for a ring from her boy friend. One Sunday when he came in to take her to lunch they came by Marty's room and we even made some suggestions to him about a ring. The last time I stopped by the 6th floor she told me that she still did not have a ring. Well the email I received this morning indicated that she now has a ring that she got on Saturday while having an awesome day with him. Praise the Lord! And my congratulations and best wishes go to the couple, as they plan their wedding day and more importantly their life together as husband and wife. Praise the Lord for bring them together and may they glorify God in all that they say and do.
I sent them an email and I ended it with I Corth. 13:8a which speaks about "faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is love." Isn't that awesome, "love" is the greatest of all the attributes that we can have. That seems to make a lot of sense to me, since "God is Love" then with out a doubt "Love" has to be great in our lives because it is in the example of God. That is not to say that faith and hope are not important as well, but I believe that Love is the first priority in our lives, then faith and hope will be there as well. Praise the Lord! But the real key is to show Love in your life always. How did you show LOVE to whom today? I hope that I showed love to the couple above today as I sent the email back to them. Second, I had lunch at a table next to a couple of cops that I did not know. But I did talk to them, and I certainly hope that I showed them some Love. Third, I went to the ER tonight for a Church Family friend who had spent about 8 hours their today, and I certainly hope that I was able to share the Love of God while I was there with them. Praise the Lord! I think, I hope, I pray that there were a couple of other times as well today, because it is so important to share the Love of God each and every day in each and every thing that we do. Even when we don't feel on top of our world, we need to get above that and share the Love of God in all that we do.
Well I thought this was going to be short and it looks like it is rather long. At any rate I have heard that a number of you have found "Jack's Dispatch" and I am glad to hear that. I will try to get on at least 2 or 3 times a week, and look forward to hearing back from you as to how I am doing. Well the dryer is still going, and there are some dishes in the sink from dinner tonight. So I better get that cleaned up.
Thanks for listening, or reading my "Dispatch", have a positive day, and God bless.
Jack

Hi Jack!
Yes, I have discovered your new blog. I'm glad you are still using this mechanism to share your thoughts. I hope it will be theraputic for you as it is, obviously, a new tool for you to use in your minstry. All is well here in Defiance (for me, anyway). Life continues to be good for me. Keep blogging & adjusting to this new phase in your life. It will take time. God bless you today & always!
